Baseball Trivia - 14

Q:
Before his encounters with Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers, Branch Rickey was the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1920's.  He was a deeply religious man and would never play nor manage on a Sunday.  On those days, one of his outfielders would take the reins.  He became known as the "Sunday Manager".  He later became a full time manager--with the Brooklyn Dodgers as Robinson's first full time manager.  Who was this outfielder?

A: Burt Shotton

The 2021 Garden - Phase 13

The temperatures during the day are constantly in the 60s but at night they drop down to the 40s.  In order that some plants could finally go outside, a compromise was accepted whereby half of the plants (the lesser half) would be guinea pigs and be moved to the greenhouse.  The better half remained inside in the living room with the hot glaring afternoon sun.

And then later on, the garden received its third till of the spring.

The 2021 Garden - Phase 12

With so many plants growing out of control, there is now an abundance of oxygen in the house.  And in order to avoid oxygen toxicity, I have to go outside every 20 minutes or so.

Thanks Congress!

It's the night of April 12th and I am getting a head start on my taxes.  This year I am using the new 1040-SR forms.  Easy to read large print and I get a little extra back thanks to a larger deduction.  It's a beautiful thing!

The 2021 Garden - Phase 11

It's too early to plant and it's too early to set up the greenhouse, but it's perfect weather (61 degrees) to give the garden its first till of the year.

I also promised a picture of my roto-tiller back in the 1/14/21 post.
