Q: This Hall of Fame first baseman won two World Series rings with the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1932 he hit 58 home runs falling short of Babe Ruth's record by two. He actually did hit 60 but two were in games that were rained out. After retirement, he managed the Fort Wayne Daisies of the AAGPBL for one year. The Tom Hanks character in A League of Their Own is loosely based on him.
