Addendum to the previous post:
When I returned home the battery problem persisted; the car would not start. I assumed it was the battery. The battery I had was a Toyota "TrueStart" which was a bit of a misnomer. I figured I had three options. 1) locate a mechanic who would do house calls and determine the problem for me. 2) have the car towed to a garage where again the problem would be analyzed. 3) if the battery was the problem, perhaps I could buy one online. Sure enough it was possible. So I ordered one on Amazon. An OPTIMA battery. The weight was 31 pounds which was 3 pounds less than the snow blower I recently bought online. The website also determined if the battery was compatible for my Toyota. It was. It finally arrived two days ago and I replaced the old battery. And it worked! The battery was a bit expensive but I did not pay for any mechanic's labor nor shipping (Amazon Prime!).
Even though it worked, the fact that the TrueStart was only installed just 1 year and 9 months ago makes me wonder if the problem is only the battery. So I will be taking test runs with the car around my neighborhood before heading out on a long trip. Yesterday and today were successful test runs. If all goes well, I will chance a long trip to the ShopRite early next week and cross my fingers.
