I don't know who or where it was, but as a youngster we would go visiting either relatives or friends of my parents. And on maybe one or two occasions, I remember being in backyards and seeing beautiful well-kept gardens. Maybe it was a characteristic of Eastern Europeans. Anyway, I've always tried to emulate those gardens of my childhood memory. This year, I think I have come as close as I ever have.
Mostly peppers (I enjoy giving them out to workers at school and parents of my X-C runners) with some tomatoes and cucumbers. This is the first year I have had no problems with birds or chipmunks eating small seedlings.
